It's been a while since my last post about DnnTube.  I don't mean to keep you in the dark, but Ive been busy with my primary job and havent had a lot of time to keep up on my side projects.

After getting myself familiar and comfortable with the Google YouTube API for .NET I began building a decent framework to use as the foundation for DnnTube.  So far Ive been able to move along without too many issues, my framework now includes:

  1. a set of wrapper classes to the YouTube API.  These wrapper classes provide a shared base class for handling some of the common tasks such as authentication automatically only when a specific request requires it.
  2. web user controls that can be used in any .NET web application and assist in enabling YouTube integration with any project.  The WebControls library includes video upload, listing videos stored on YouTube, and a Video Player.

With the framework built and ready the module development is now under way.  Building the web user controls with all the functionality handled should make the development process of the modules much quicker.  The modules will really be nothing more than wrappers to the frameworks user controls and a few settings modules to customize the interaction between the user controls and the DNN modules.

This is definitely turning out to be a fun and interesting project to work on and I am already seeing a lot of future functionality that I would love to put in this, especially opening the door for social aspects and allowing site members to have their own page to post videos and share with other members

Until next time.
